*The Book Reading Challenge*
*Our
Why?*
Prior to launching the Online Book Reading
Challenge in the month of May 2020, we at the Topitup Media and Communication
(owners of the program - Challenge With Dr, Jerry - the First) had been
organizing Challenges in various aspects of life - we had held three sessions
of Mindset Reset Challenge, two sessions of No Complain Challenge, two sessions
of Fast From Negatives Challenge and all that but in May 2020 we decided to
introduce the Online Book Reading Challenge and it has proven to be the most
successful so far considering that between May and July 225 persons have taken
part in the Book Reading Challenge.
Why did we introduce it?
We took judicial notice of the pandemic that is
rocking the World right now as it were and the fact that people are forced by
Government and implementers of laws to stay at home in order to be safe and so
we wanted to use the situation to bring people back to the reading culture
which is almost going into extinction since we no longer have the time to
actually read books again.
And we did not just introduce any how books, we
went for the exotic, iconic and classic books of yore which changed a lot of
times on yon days and this really has made all the difference.
We also decided to source for and share for
free these rare books that are in serious extinction right now so that
participants would not have to search for them before identifying with the
program.
And in doing this therefore, we are paying it
forward for any who may wish to expand their knowledge base and utilize the
resources to better their lives.
Like we have said several times, the Book
Reading Challenge is not a Contest neither is it a Competition but rather a
Personal Development Program in which the individual reads in a Group and
identifies the areas of his or her life that s/he needs to apply the lessons
that have been learnt.
You need to know that Personal Development is a
journey and not a destination and being a journey one needs to show and exhibit
character and commitment to go the whole hog
Commitment Number 1 - Actually read the Chapter
allotted for the day
Commitment Number 2 - Write down in your jotter
your take away from the Chapter which you hope to work on
Commitment Number 3 - Write your 3 sentence
summary of what you have read as a comment on the Blog post
Commitment Number 4 - Be available from 7 pm to
participate in the brainstorming and question and answer sessions
Commitment Number 5 - Always say good night to
the Coordinator/Moderator at the end of each brainstorming session
Making
a commitment to what you do—whether in your personal life or your professional
life—is one of the most fundamental principles of success.
Commitments
are powerful because they influence how you think, how you sound, and how you
act.
Your
commitment will take you to the top of the ladder of success if you keep at it
This is
our why
So can you share with us your own why? in participating in the Challenge?
It's
good having you here

I participated in the challenge to get the best out of those books, as it is said, two are better than one. Reading individually and then coming together in a round table to share what was read give everyone involve a broad view and application of what was read.

DR. DENNIS EKWEDIKE : Reading is one of my favourite hobbies but I found out that Facebook and WhatsApp have made me not to be reading books for sometime not even online... You could imagine how excited I was when I bumped into your advert about the Reading Challenge and I graciously grabbed the opportunity. Could you believe that I actually have the Hard copy of *The Richest Man in Babylon* which I bought more than 5years now but never opened it until I finished the online challenge. I know things with not be the same again as the book was quite expository. I look forward to continuing with the Reading Challenge. Thank you Sir !

ReplyDeleteI am committed to this challenge because of the embodiment of knowledge I am acquiring.
Thanks to the coordinator Dr Jerry.
Nice to read this from you
DeleteI found it difficult these days to concentrate and read due to the various seemingly important tasks, so I made a commitment to join in the challenge to be able to rekindle my passion for reading.
ReplyDeleteI totally enjoyed the views shared during the reviews as it opened up vistas I hitherto did not see.
Looking forward to the next challenge.

ReplyDeleteSagir Muhammad.
ReplyDeleteI love challenges. They bring out the best in me. This is an indication of the potential of mankind if the right guidance is followed.
This particular scheme caught my attention because it was organized by someone that appears to have a critical way of analysis. I therefore decided not to miss it!
The greatest asset any person can posses is knowledge. I wish I know everything but if I cannot then I can at least lay hold to as much as I can especially when it's this profiting. As they say no knowledge is a waste. Positive or negative contributes to making us what we become. Thank you for giving us this opportunity sir.
