This doctrine my friends is reason and wisdom but after all do not depend too much upon your own industry and frugality and prudence, though excellent things; for they may all be blessed without the blessing of Heaven and therefore ask the blessing humbly and be not uncharitable to those that at present seem to want it,  but comfort and help them.

Remember Job suffered and was afterwards prosperous.

And now to conclude,  experience keeps a dear School but fools will learn in no other as poor Richard says and scarce in that for it is true.

We may give advice but we cannot give conduct however remember this They that will not be counseled cannot be helped and farther that if you will not hear reason she will simply rap your knuckles as poor Richard says.

Thus the old gentleman ended his harangue.

The people heard it and approved the doctrine and immediately practiced the contrary just as if it has been a common sermon.

For the auction opened and they began to buy extravagantly.

I found the good man had thoroughly studied my Almanack and digested all I have dropped on these topicks during the course of 25 years.

 

The frequent mention he made of me must have tired anyone else but my vanity was wonderfully delighted with it; though I was conscious that not a tenth part of the wisdom was my own which he ascribed to me but rather the gleanings I had made of the sense of all ages and nations. However I resolved to be the better for the echo of it, and though I had at first determined to buy stuff for a new coat, I went away resolved to wear my old one a little longer

    We may give advice but we cannot give conduct
    You do not need to a new coat if the old one can still serve you rather you save the money.

    DR.DENNIS EKWEDIKE: Reason and wisdom are wonderful virtues but we should not depend only on our industry and prudence as heavenly blessing is also important. We may give advice but we cannot give conduct however we should extend charity those in need.Anyone that cannot be counselled cannot be helped.

    This chapter teaches us to be frugal but not to do it at the expense of those who need our help.
    Secondly, we can only help those who are ready to take our advice not those who will not take the advice but need us to give our money to them.
    To be aware of the ALMIGHTY BLESSINGS for without it, our efforts might be a waste.
    Finally, we don't need to buy new things when we have the old one that can serve us.

    ODIMEGWU ODIRA Francis. Like the Gospel of the sower and the seed, the effectiveness of the words and the advice depends on the disposition of the receiver . The author can give us ways of conduct but can't give us action.

    To excel in life, I must be willing to take counsel.
    It's one thing to hear a sermon, but the practice of it is another.
    If what I have can serve me a little longer, then I have no need of getting another.

    1.We may give advice to people regarding financial literacy but we cannot give conduct.

    2.Our industry and frugality and prudence even though excellent are not enough to attain financial freedom.

    3.We must be careful not to always gratify our immediate desires if we want to be rich

    Rely on God and not only in thy own wisdom.
    Help when necessary.
    Seek wisdom or counsel from those ahead of you and learn to yield to it.

    To receive advice is one thing, but practicing it is another ball game entirely. Prudence is a basic necessity to attaining wealth: and prudence is when you purchase only the things that are absolutely necessary!

    1. Reasoning and wisdom are vital but don't depend too much upon your own industry.
    2. Comfort and helping those that needs charity but remember you may give advice but you cannot give conduct, also those that will not be counseled cannot be helped.
    3. If you have an old coat that still serves you better still wear it a little longer than acquirung a new one cause you can use the money for some other thing important.

    2. Be charitable to the needy; comfort and help them.
    3. Be resolved to wear old clothes a little longer because the money you will spend in acquiring new ones could be saved in order to make your profit great.

    Give arms to the needy but I doing that, help those that can help themselves and give out your piece of advice to those that are willing and ready to run with with. When your old cloth can serve the purpose, use it and don't go for another. Collins

    If an old garment is still good, no need to purchase another, this would amount to unnecessary extravagance
